Oh! That’s what happened!

Oh! That’s what happened!

Well I got her up in the air this weekend and started taking out the transmission and looking for the culprit.     It was a bit of a PITA to get out and that’s with gravity helping and trying to drop it on my head. I can’t even begin to imagine putting it back in, but I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it. To get the transmission out I had to first drain it, remove the shift handle, the drive shaft and the safety loop. Then I slid the floor jack underneath it and strapped it to the jack with a ratchet strap. (My heads hard but not hard enough to support that thing) ย With the jack supporting it I removed the rear tranny mount and the A-brace. Next were the 4 bolts that hold it to the bell-housing and I started to back it out. Problem...

Opps I broke her!

You might recall in a past blog I mentioned something about still working on adjusting the clutch. Well apparently the problem I was having was more than just an adjustment. Today with the weather being awesome we took the Cobra out for a quick trip to Home Depot to exchange some tile grout, as witnessed in this first pic. Doesn’t she look nice? ๐Ÿ˜Ž   From there we decided to run by my Mom and sisters place to say hi. Well a couple of blocks from their house the problem fully manifested itself and the clutch pedal dropped to the floor, which resulted in this. Doesn’t she look sad? ๐Ÿ™   Fortunately the insurance I have on the car includes towing all the way to my house and not to the nearest garage. She’s back in her spot in the garage and...

Time for a selfie!

Well it’s been just over a month since my last post. What’s been happening with the car since then, not much. Just waiting on the state to get back to me. After a month passing with no word I finally got tired of waiting and called them last week Wednesday with the hope of finding out some sort of status on the VIN. I should have called sooner. Imagine my surprise when they were helpful and told me the VIN had been issued on the 23rd of September and the trooper had picked it up on the 26th. They were surprised he hand’t contacted me yet but were nice enough to give me his number. So I called him up and he said “Yep got it right here. The next appointment is on the 28th of Oct or this Saturday being the 18th, which one would you...

Missed it by that much.

$3.50 to be exact. So after going back and forth to the DMV I finally left the paperwork with them and got a promised call back for the next step. I waited. And color me surprised I actually got a call back from DMV saying they now knew what to do and they would be forwarding the paperwork to the state. So more waiting. And then on Friday we got a package from the State Revenue office, our excitement was short lived. In it was all my paperwork and a nice rejection letter. I got everything right except for the $3.50 required fee. Closer examination of the VIN form shows they actually filled it out with all the proper info and then had to white it out because of the missing fee that DMV didn’t tell me I needed to pay. Oh well, so we wrote the $3.50 check and...

105 Miles

What’s that you say, what’s 105 miles? Well it’s how many miles I have on the car already. I guess I should let you know what I’ve been up to over the last month or so since the last post. To start off I was still building but it’s not as exciting as it sounds, what I was building was paperwork. The paperwork that I need to get her registered.   I did take care of a few more things while I was working on the paper work and waiting on my appointment with the Colorado State Patrol for the certified VIN inspection. First up I finished the center console. Covered it with a piece of leather and padding, added the cup holders and then installed it. I also mounted the fire extinguisher. Cause you gotta have a fire extinguisher, cause...

TaDa…

Checklist complete…..   Garage Empty? Can only mean one thing… I’ve been robbed. Nope, she’s done. Well done enough to start the registration process. Still a few minor details, like the center console and then a major detail like bodywork and paint. But for now, she’s done enough and roadworthy to start the registration process. Enjoy the pics. I get to see this every morning when I head off to work. Can’t wait till I get it registered.
