Garage – Workbenches
Warning – another long thread about workbenches in the garage. 2 things first: 1) Factory Five started assembling the chassis today, scheduled completion is the 22nd of June. Stewart Transportation is scheduled to pick it up the week of the 24th, specific day not set yet. Once they do then I will have the delivery date. Expecting it the first week of July, what a nice July 4th this could be, if it’s too much after the 4th it will get close to the 10th and Caroline will start thinking it’s her birthday gift. 2) Someone, he knows who he is, mentioned looking at my site and expecting to see a car. But all they could tell was that I knew how to clean a garage. Well now with this post you at least know I can work wood. 😉 With the floor down...
Garage – Preparation
WARNING – Long thread about a garage floor – read at your own risk of wasted time. Now that the car is on order and due to arrive sometime late June early July I had to get busy and get the garage ready, it’s condition just wasn’t going to be suitable to build the car in. So I added some new high output fluorescents lights, 8 in total. I also had the walls painted a nice bright white. This has helped dramatically with the light levels in the garage. Ok so this next part is probably overkill but I couldn’t stand the condition of the garage floor. It had never been cleaned by the previous owner and to make matters worse they had an industrial 2 burner wok that they evidently used quite a bit. This was also why I had to have the walls...
Order – Complete
Well it’s officially on order. The scheduled completion date is 22 June. With shipping I’m expecting it to be delivered sometime late June or early July. I still have to work out the details with Stewart Transportation. So I ordered the complete kit and took advantage of the Factory Five’s Spring Sale. This got me the Independent Rear Suspension setup free and $400 off the wheels. I also got the leather seats, the stainless side pipes, chrome roll bars for both drive and passenger, the Halibrand Replica wheels at 17″x9″ front and 17″ x 10.5″ rear and the Coyote engine installation kit. Now that that’s all done I’ve got to get the engine and tranny on order as well. I’ve also got to finish getting the...
Build School – Complete
Well the build school was a blast. Met a great group of people also pursuing building a roadster as well as a great staff at the school. Thanks to Jim and Todd for their instruction and help. I highly recommend the school to anyone considering a build. Not only will you get some great hands on experience but you will also be able to tap into the instructors experience as well. Their tips and tricks will prove very helpful throughout your build. Below is a gallery of the pictures I took during the class. There’s also a surprise in there as well.
